The crypto space has always been an industry dominated by men, however, times are changing, and women are starting to get into this opportunistic world more and more. With their analytical thinking, careful planning, sensibility, and complex thinking, females stand to be just as, if not more, competent than the other gender in many areas, including trading, governance, and ventures. In this article, we’ll explore the relationship of women and the crypto world, as well as their role, outlook, and value added to this ever expanding universe.
To answer this question, we have to go back to 2008, the early days of the industry. Back then, the tech scene was generally male-dominated which translated to the crypto space becoming a man's industry, too. That’s because around that time, crypto was extremely highly technical, and only the most tech-savvy persons could have access to it, not even mentioning the fact that the average person had no way of even knowing about the subject.
Fast forward to 2022, however, and things are looking very different. Gender equality and inclusivity are two things the majority of the world has been focusing on for years, and so it’s no surprise that the crypto space is also feeling its effects.
There are multiple ways in which women are claiming their share of the pie. One of these is simply by looking into investing and trading more and more, which has the potential to directly empower women in financial terms. Another aspect is women taking important positions in crypto startups and firms, which increases their overall presence in the industry, thus naturally boosting women’s inclusion in the sphere.
Women can not only enter the space and be equal partners, but can also overcome the other gender in various aspects. First off, females are known to have more analytical thinking than men, which can prove very helpful during technical analysis. Second, they are more complex thinkers, which may lead to a better understanding of more complicated ecosystems and crypto projects. Also, women’s organizational and soft skills can come in handy through online community moderating, governing, or fostering.
There are various renowned women in the crypto sphere, including Deloitte’s GPS Blockchain Lead Wendy Henry, Ark Invest’s multi-millionaire CEO Cathie Wood, world-famous actor and media personality Paris Hilton, and many more.
Overall, women have demonstrated that they are able to turn a historically male-dominated industry around and claim their share in just a few years. The process is not completed just yet, but they are on the right track of securing an equal share from a market that they can even dominate in certain areas.
