Anime is a globally popular type of cartoon that has a distinctive style, characters, and way of conduct that won the hearts of hundreds of millions of fans. Azuki essentially introduced anime to the crypto space through NFTs, and its success was comparable to that of conventional anime. Since its launch, Azuki has become one of the top most traded NFTs of all time among the likes of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and CryptoPunks. In this article, we’ll discover what Azuki NFTs are all about, and explore an optimal crossing of anime and the crypto world.
Azuki is an Ethereum-based Non-Fungible Token (NFT) collection that features 10,000 bespoke anime-themed avatars with various styles and rarity. Azuki is more, however, than just a group of thematic artwork, it is said to be the first true anime NFT-based, decentralized metaverse project. The project plans to make this vision reality in a virtual Azuki holders-only space called “The Garden”.
Azuki is immensely popular among investors of all kinds, and it shows on its numbers; a more than 251,000 ETH all-time trading volume puts the collection to the sixth spot on the list of top traded NFTs to-date. Azuki NFTs are also not exactly easy to afford for most investors, as they have a floor price of around 10 ETH, and the highest sale to-date of 420 ETH for one piece.
Each character is fully bespoke, and features one unique trait combination from the million potential orders. The signature look of Azuki NFTs is anime-like, which is how they can be distinguished from other collections in an instant.
Multiple traits make each token unique, including numerous potential backgrounds, avatar types, objects, hairstyles, and everything in between. It’s worth mentioning that while each item is fully unique, some Azukis are rarer than others.
Azuki never stops evolving, and its founders are doing their best to come up with a future that matches holders’ expectations. For instance, Azuki’s team plans to launch a full-fledged Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) that would be solely governed by Azuki holders. Also, the project has recently launched BEANZ, which was a seemingly spontaneous, yet successful NFT drop that each Azuki holder had the chance to benefit from. Launching The Garden and expanding its reach is, of course, among the plans as well, however, the founders are mysterious about the specifics—probably on purpose.
Overall, Azuki NFTs are the textbook success story that no other anime-themed collection has managed to replicate to-date. Their unique appearance caught the eyes of millions, the appealing mystery, yet extreme news surrounding the project kept investors’ interest, and so Azuki launched towards a future that appears to be bright even according to shy estimates—all we can do is what and see what their next big move will be.
